Why Moving Bros Exists
Financial platform intelligence has historically been siloed within large advisory firms, accessible only at significant cost. We built Moving Bros to change that — producing rigorous, independently funded research that practitioners, advisers, and informed individuals can rely on.
Our focus is the digital infrastructure of major financial institutions: how they deliver services, how those services perform against stated capabilities, and where gaps between marketing and reality exist. We tell it as we find it.
Our current primary research covers Itaú Unibanco's complete digital ecosystem — from its retail banking super-app through to the Íon investment platform, enterprise banking tools, and open finance API architecture.
Our Research Principles
Every assessment we publish is shaped by these commitments — maintained regardless of commercial pressure.
Full Independence
We accept no fees, referrals, or sponsored placements from any institution we assess. Our funding comes exclusively from data licensing and research commissions.
Documented Methodology
Every score is grounded in a published rubric. We show our working — analysts, institutions, and readers can challenge and verify every finding.
Rolling Currency
Platform research ages fast. We maintain a quarterly review cycle and update profiles immediately on material product or regulatory changes.
Primary Research First
We conduct structured platform walkthroughs ourselves. Our findings are not aggregated from press releases or industry reports — they reflect direct, first-hand assessment.
Honest About Limits
We flag uncertainties, disclose assessment dates, and publish corrections when new information changes the picture. No embellishment, no corporate diplomacy.
Comparable Standards
The same rubric applies across institutions — ensuring that when we say Itaú's mobile app scores 9.2, that score means the same thing as a 9.2 given to any other platform we assess.
How We Conduct Assessments
Each Moving Bros platform assessment follows a six-stage process built for rigour and reproducibility.
Platform Scoping
We define the assessment boundary — which product lines, geographies, and user segments are in scope — before any data collection begins. This prevents scope creep and ensures comparability across assessments.
Feature Taxonomy Mapping
Using our standardised feature catalogue, analysts systematically document every material function of the platform — both what is advertised and what is actually accessible to users.
Structured User Journey Testing
We conduct walkthroughs simulating representative use cases — account opening, payment execution, investment transactions, API integration — capturing friction, failure modes, and stand-out capabilities.
Regulatory Alignment Check
Each platform profile is cross-referenced against applicable regulations — BACEN standards, LGPD, GDPR, FATF guidance — to verify stated compliance claims against observed implementation.
Peer Benchmarking
Findings are contextualised against comparable institutions in the same market tier, ensuring scores reflect genuine relative performance rather than absolute criteria that may not apply to emerging-market contexts.
Publication and Review Cycle
Assessments are published with full methodology disclosure and entered into our rolling quarterly review programme. Material platform changes trigger immediate reassessment of affected dimensions.
